Insert Some Witty Pun About Updates Here

I know it's been a bit since I threw my New Year's Resolutions at you, but I decided it was time to take a break from the constant bashing-your-head-against-the-wall that is editing a novel and update all you good people (and hell, the not-so-good ones, too; I don't judge) on what's been happening in my publishing arena lately. And by that I mean skipping merrily over the multiple rejections and focusing on the good news, such as:

Remember Darkwater Syndicate, the folks who brought you the Postcards From the Void horror anthology that included the first short story I ever sold, "Felicity's Well, New Jersey"? Well, I sent another story to them, and I'm proud to announce that "Out on Arrowhead Road," a horror story involving a pair of modern-day moonshiners, a murder, and a vengeful haunting centered around one sweet-ass cherry-red '70 Dodge Challenger, will be appearing in their upcoming anthology of automotive horror It Came From the Garage! The list in this post isn't complete, since the editors haven't made all their final selections yet, but there's my name along with a high-caliber list of other authors who put the pedal to the horrific, blood-soaked metal and came up with some great stories that'll make you think twice before you step foot in another automobile (or shoot somebody and bury their body on a deserted Kentucky back road, in my case).

But wait, theres more! My poem "S— Estate, After" was accepted by The Literary Hatchet and appears in their most recent issue, which coincidentally happens to be 22, my lucky number. It's a ghostly little villanelle, a poem style I particularly enjoy working with (my poem "Heartache," published in Where the Mind Dwells: Imagination with those fuckers Eber & Wein, was also a villanelle, and some of the best unpublished stuff I have on hand happens to follow suit. Hey, I'm not arguing; it's worked out well so far, right?), and the print edition of the issue can be purchased here; additionally, a free PDF of the issue (and all issues) is available for download on their site, along with links to previous print issues. if you find yourself intrigued.

That's all for the moment, but I've got a lot of submissions either out or about to go out, and so that could change at any moment—after all, they can't step on every dream you have, right? Right??? As always, keep checking back here or in the HoSSP for updates on recent and upcoming projects, and above all, stay weird, folks. And don't doubt those lucky numbers—one day they might just pay off.
